A recent ruling of the Constitutional Court protects third parties in good faith from processes for the forfeiture of properties. Considering that these processes can last many years and that they are imprescriptible, many people who have bought their property in a lawful manner and in good faith, without knowing their origin and not knowing whether or not they belonged to drug lords, have been affected with the processes for the forfeiture of properties. However, this ruling of the Constitutional Court allows these people who have acted well and do not know the history of each of the property owners (a situation that they are not obliged to know) to be protected and not affected by said processes. This implies a protection of the private property and is an invitation to investment in productive properties so important for the reactivation of the economy, which is why this ruling comes at a very good time. This is a breakthrough in our country!
